Blog Post: From DC to Puerto Rico

The African Diaspora never ceases to show out, and I am invited to a drum circle in Malcolm X park on a Sunday afternoon where many of the drummers have been a part of the scene for years and I do mean years. Delving into the history of this, I decide to take my daughter and I on the road to Puerto Rico, to its Black heart of Loiza. There, I interview the Ayala family, the family at the center of the Bomba tradition.
